NSW:Greens talk nonsense about sniffer dogs

New South Wales Premier BARRY O'FARRELL has flatly rejected a call by the Greens to
scrap the state's sniffer dog program.

He says it's not surprising the Greens would be advocating policies to make it harder
for police to do their job as the party doesn't support policies that make certain drugs
illegal.

Greens MP DAVID SHOEBRIDGE has called for the sniffer dog program to be dumped after
government figures revealed the canines are wrong four out of five times.

But Mr O'FARRELL has pointed to breath testing as a comparable example of effective policy.

He says for about every 100-thousand breath tests that occur, about 15-hundred people
are caught over the limit.
