Qld: Man assaults woman then steals her doona: court

BRISBANE, Dec 16 AAP - A man broke into a home in one of Brisbane's most exclusive
suburbs and forced the female resident to perform sexual acts on him, a court has been
told.

Peter Francis Tall, 34, was sentenced to five years' jail on Wednesday for the attack
on the 59-year-old woman at Ascot in June 2007.

He had previously pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court to one count each of
burglary, stealing and sexual assault while armed.

Prosecutor David Nardone told the court Tall broke into the house about 1am (AEST)
and made his way into the upstairs bedroom, where the woman was sleeping.

Mr Nardone said Tall, who was armed with a knife, ordered the woman to perform oral sex on him.

The court was told the woman refused but agreed to masturbate Tall.

Mr Nardone said Tall left the room and then returned and asked for more before thanking
the woman and stealing her doona so he could cover his genitals.

The court was told Tall was drunk and had consumed cannabis and speed before breaking
into the house, which he did to steal goods and cash so he could fuel his drug habit.

Judge Julie Ryrie sentenced Tall to five years' jail, but released him immediately
on probation after the court was told he had already served 19 months in pre-sentence
custody.

Judge Ryrie also ordered he complete a sexual offenders' course.
